Two Ventura County public education leaders have been recognized at the state level by the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA). Ventura County Superintendent of School Stan Mantooth has received the 2018 CCSESA Champion Award, which recognizes a county superintendent who works to strengthen the service and leadership capabilities of California’s County Superintendents in support of students, schools, districts and communities. The Champion Award is presented to an individual who meets the following criteria:

  • Serves as a County Superintendent of Schools and is an active member of CCSESA
  • Works in a selfless manner to enhance the role/visibility of county superintendents of schools/county offices of education
  • Contributes knowledge and experience appropriately and willingly to further the goals of the public education system
  • Is viewed by his/her peers as a champion of the students of California

Mr. Mantooth is one of 58 County Superintendents of Schools in California and has served as Ventura County’s Superintendent since 2008.

CCSESA also honored Misty Key, Associate Superintendent, Fiscal and Administrative Services at the Ventura County Office of Education. Ms. Key was recognized for her contributions to the CCSESA Business and Administration Steering Committee (BASC) as a Steering Committee Star. This award honors steering committee members who have played a critical role in fulfilling the committee’s goals. Her colleagues in BASC selected Ms. Key as their award recipient for her hard work and dedication.
